What is EECP Therapy?

Enhanced External Counter Pulsation (EECP) is an advanced, non-invasive cardiac therapy designed to improve blood flow to the heart. It is commonly recommended for patients experiencing chronic chest pain (angina), blocked arteries, or reduced heart function who wish to avoid bypass surgery or angioplasty.

During the procedure, specialized cuffs are placed around the legs that rhythmically inflate and deflate in sync with your heartbeat. This process enhances circulation, improves oxygen supply to the heart, and stimulates the development of natural bypass channels (collateral circulation).

Benefits of EECP Therapy

EECP therapy is US FDA approved and clinically proven to improve heart performance and quality of life. It is safe, painless, and performed as an outpatient procedure.

  • Improves blood circulation to the heart
  • Reduces chest pain and angina symptoms
  • Enhances exercise tolerance and stamina
  • Supports formation of natural bypass vessels
  • May help lower blood pressure
  • Improves overall energy levels
  • Non-surgical and no anesthesia required
  • Safe and comfortable outpatient treatment

Who Can Benefit?

EECP therapy is ideal for patients with coronary artery disease, stable angina, post-angioplasty symptoms, heart failure (selected cases), or individuals seeking a non-invasive alternative to surgical procedures. Each patient undergoes proper evaluation before starting treatment.

EECP Therapy FAQs

Each session typically lasts about one hour. Most patients undergo treatment five to six days a week for approximately 6–7 weeks, depending on their condition and physician recommendation.

No hospitalization is required. EECP is an outpatient procedure, and patients can return home immediately after each session and continue most of their normal daily activities.

EECP may not be suitable for individuals with severe valve disease, uncontrolled arrhythmias, active blood clots, or certain vascular conditions. A detailed medical evaluation is performed before starting therapy to ensure safety.

Yes. EECP is commonly performed alongside prescribed cardiac medications. Over time, some patients may require dosage adjustments, but any medication changes are made strictly under medical supervision.

Many patients begin noticing gradual improvement in stamina and reduction in symptoms within a few weeks. However, completing the full treatment schedule provides the most consistent and long-term benefits.

The treatment is generally well tolerated. Patients may feel firm pressure around the legs during inflation cycles, but it should not cause pain. Our team monitors you throughout the session to ensure comfort and safety.
